Reviewers were pleased with the colorful world of feudal Japan, the diverse and flexible combat system, the well-written two main characters, the pleasant graphics and good (by the standards of major releases) stability.

The project’s downsides included a predictable plot and disappointing ending, a monotonous structure, a bloated open world, and a lack of significant innovation in the formula.
