Microsoft announced in the Xbox Wire news blog that it is expanding its cloud streaming capabilities for Xbox games, but for now only for members of the Xbox Insider program.
Let’s remember that in November, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers were allowed to stream purchased games to TVs, smartphones, tablets and other devices supported by Xbox Cloud Gaming, and now Xbox consoles have been added to the list.
The full release of the feature is expected in 2025, but Xbox Insider members can try it out now. Testing is limited to the 28 countries where Xbox Cloud Gaming is available and approximately 50 projects.
At this stage, the list includes Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Star Wars Outlaws, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and will expand in the future.
The feature allows Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream games from the cloud to Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S without having to download them to the console. This saves the user time and space on the set-top box’s hard drive.
In the past, a similar feature was available for games from the Game Pass catalog, while now Microsoft has begun to include games purchased by Xbox owners that are not included in the subscription.
Games available for streaming to the Xbox console can be found in the library – the project icon will be marked with a cloud icon. Support for launching directly from the store and from the Xbox app on PC will be coming in the future.
