CD Projekt Red added a secret quest to Cyberpunk 2077 based on the main indie hit of 2024

The developers from CD Projekt Red warned that the major content update 2.2 for the action role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077, released the day before, contained new secrets, and they were not deceived. Fans have already revealed one of the secrets.

As players noticed shortly after the release of 2.2, the new version of Cyberpunk 2077 added a secret quest based on the main indie hit of 2024 – the poker roguelike Balatro from Canadian developer LocalThunk.

The quest begins with V receiving a message from someone named Jim B, whose avatar looks like a card back from Balatro. The stranger asks the hero to find a group of jokers scattered throughout Night City.

As a reward, players will receive a trophy to decorate their apartment (a card holder from Balatro in the style of Cyberpunk 2077) and a themed T-shirt. You can also get a real T-shirt – CDPR is preparing official merchandise.

According to CDPR PR director Radek Grabowski, the idea to add maps from Balatro to Cyberpunk 2077 belonged to him, and quest designer Maria Mazur was responsible for the task itself.

It is worth noting that last fall, at the suggestion of the same Grabovsky, maps based on Cyberpunk 2077 appeared in Balatro – the crossover took place as part of the October content update of Friends of Jimbo 2.

Update 2.2 was released on December 10 on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox Series X and S for all owners of Cyberpunk 2077. Users of the Reddit forum have already begun to track down undocumented changes in the patch.
