IGN noted that the thank you video presented by Capcom on the occasion of the Resident Evil 4 remake reaching 10 million copies sold may contain a teaser for the next part of the famous horror series.

As a reminder, the two-minute video shows an alternative version of the scene from the opening section of Resident Evil 4, in which the ringing of a bell distracts the villagers from trying to kill the main character.

In the new video, the villagers leave for a party to celebrate 10 million copies of the Resident Evil 4 remake, and Dr. Salvador stays behind to play his chainsaw like a guitar and sing a song from the game’s soundtrack that includes the lyrics, “Look ahead and never look back.”

At this point, the camera reveals a sign behind the protagonist that reads “Thank you for playing” in multiple languages. As fans quickly noticed, the board’s sign, when turned sideways, forms an IX (Roman 9).

Capcom is currently busy developing Resident Evil 9, so the “nine” was considered a teaser for the upcoming release. Apparently, the hint was added intentionally, since in the remake itself, one of the boards that makes up the coveted number is missing from the sign.

As a reminder, Capcom confirmed plans for the next Resident Evil last summer, with Resident Evil 7 director and Resident Evil 5 designer Koshi Nakanishi leading the development.

There is virtually no official information about the project. According to insider AestheticGamer (aka Dusk Golem), the game has been in production since early 2018 and will feature an open world.
