Developers from the Polish studio Bloober Team on their microblog described how players can make the upcoming remake of the cult psychological horror game Silent Hill 2 as atmospheric as possible.

As it became known, users of Silent Hill 2 (that’s what the remake is called) will have the opportunity to disable all interface elements. In this mode, you will have to navigate using visual and audio cues.
In particular, the main character of Silent Hill 2, James Sunderland, will turn his gaze to objects that are important for the passage. In addition, depending on the injuries received, the animations and facial expressions of the protagonist change.
In addition, Bloober Team showed off a 90s-style visual filter prepared for the Silent Hill 2 remake. The studio demonstrated its effect in a short video (attached below).
According to the developers, the alternative graphics mode creates an “old-school experience” by increasing image grain, special color correction and some screen adjustments.
In addition to the 90s-style filter and the option to disable the interface, the Silent Hill 2 remake promises Unreal Engine 5 graphics (using Lumen technology), spine-chilling sound and no loading screens.
Silent Hill 2 will be released on October 8 on PC (Steam) and PS5. In mid-August, gaming journalists shared their impressions of the project; at the same time, 27 minutes of new gameplay from the remake became publicly available.
