“Bethesda, learn”: Larian allowed Baldur’s Gate 3 players on Steam to remain on the sixth patch

The major seventh patch, released yesterday for the PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3, brought with it almost a thousand changes, but some users were not ready for the upgrade. Larian Studios has not forgotten about such players.

As Larian reported on its social networks, it organized on Steam the opportunity to stay on the latest patch of the sixth patch and not switch to the seventh update. For this purpose, the studio has prepared a special beta branch.

«We’ve made the beta branch of Patch 6 available to anyone who wants to give creators more time to update their mods, continue playing multiplayer on a Mac, or keep progress transferring over on consoles,” Larian explained.

To stay on the sixth patch, you need to open the properties of Baldur’s Gate 3 in the Steam library, go to the “Beta Versions” tab and select release_patch6_hf9 (see screenshot below).

In the comments, Larian emphasized that it added the option not to update to the seventh patch based on user feedback. Fans, in turn, thanked the developers for their care.

«This is why we love Larian,” summed up AXON. Larian’s lessons, according to players, would be useful for other companies to learn. “Bethesda, learn,” wonkersbonkers99 hinted.

The seventh patch of Baldur’s Gate 3 has so far been released only on PC (Steam, GOG), and will reach Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X and S in October. The two main features of the update were support for mods and the expansion of “evil” endings.
