As promised, on April 15, the fantasy role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 from the Belgian Larian Studios received the eighth major patch, which will be the last major update for the project.

The main features of the eighth patch were crossplay support between all target platforms, photo mode, 12 new subclasses, split-screen functionality on Xbox Series S, and Steam Trading Cards.
In total, the update includes almost 800 changes (like dance animations for harpies or performance improvements) – the list turned out to be so voluminous (48 pages) that it did not fit into the Steam publication.

Aside from minor bug fixes, post-release support for Baldur’s Gate 3 will end after Patch 8: no new content, major plot changes, additional companions, or characters with backstories.
To celebrate the release of the final major update for Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian has once again teamed up with Spud Gun Studios to create a final animated short (see video below).
«”You helped us make BG3 more successful than we ever hoped for, and that passion could have driven us to tweak and change until the end of time. But then we would never have made anything new,” Larian explained.
Baldur’s Gate 3 left Early Access on August 3, 2023 on PC (Steam, GOG), and subsequently made its way to Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X, and S. Since its release, the RPG has won over 280 Game of the Year awards, including five major awards.
