At the height of the Half-Life 3 rumors, a secret game appeared on Valve’s Steam page

Last summer, Valve confirmed that it was developing hero shooter Deadlock, but judging by the developer’s Steam page, this is not the only game in production at the American studio.

A member of the Reddit forum under the pseudonym Relevant_Basis5444 noticed that Valve’s Steam page lists two unreleased games, only one of which is visible to ordinary users.

This public game is the aforementioned Deadlock, while the second project is (probably intentionally) hidden from prying eyes – judging by the Internet archive, this oddity appeared in the tab no later than December 29, 2024.

A similar situation occurred with the Japanese publisher Atlus in early December 2021, and a few days later at The Game Awards 2021 ceremony, the company presented a remaster of the fighting game Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.

It is unclear what kind of project Valve’s Steam page is hiding and when to expect its announcement. The game cannot be the upcoming Half-Life 2 RTX or the abandoned In the Valley of Gods, since Valve is not responsible for both of these developments.

Previously, data miners reported that behind the scenes Valve is developing a secret project codenamed hlx, which is a full-fledged Half-Life not for VR, taking the place of Half-Life 3 in the chronology of the series.

According to Gabe Follower, Valve has already begun actively testing hlx and may announce the game in 2025. Voice actor G-Man, meanwhile, intrigued fans with the promise of “unexpected surprises” in his New Year’s greeting.
