The secret update fixes a number of bugs and makes improvements to some gameplay elements, but in a key move, it protects Ubisoft from accusations of disrespect for Japanese culture.

The developers have made tables and stands in in-game shrines indestructible, and unarmed civilians will no longer bleed if attacked – this will help to avoid bloodshed in temples.

Ishiba called the desecration of Japanese temples an insult to the country. Although the politician spoke about vandalism in the context of real events, Ubisoft decided not to tempt fate once again – the company’s future largely depends on the success of Shadows.
