“Almost like RDR 2”: a random bug showed what Indiana Jones and the Great Circle would look like in a third-person view

Many gamers would love to see third-person play in MachineGames’ action-adventure Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and for one lucky user, that dream has become a reality.

Throughout most of the game, what is happening is shown from the eyes of the main characters, but when performing certain actions (for example, when climbing a wall), the camera briefly switches to third-person mode.

User theraineydaze from the Reddit forum accidentally discovered a full-fledged third-person “mode” in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – its activation was provoked by a bug. The camera just got stuck behind Indiana Jones.

The two-minute gameplay video, published by theraineydaze, shows Indiana riding a boat, swimming, interacting with characters and exploring the environment from a third-person perspective. The video didn’t even get to the point of fighting.

Despite the occasional conflict between Indy’s lower and upper body movements, Reddit users were pleasantly surprised at how decent the third-person mode caused by the bug looked:

  • «Not as crooked as one might expect, given that you shouldn’t look at these animations that way,” Plathismo opined;
  • «Looks almost like RDR 2,” Spiritual_Title6996 is sure;
  • «Still choosing the first face, but it doesn’t look that bad,” Wooden-Lifeguard-636 gave credit;
  • «Even bugs want to see this option in the game,” joked IceNysp;
  • «Every cloud has a silver lining,” noted Plastic_Coyote_5053.

Meanwhile, the game received a second patch. We fixed DLSS on PC, fixed global illumination on video cards with memory that does not meet the minimum requirements, improved lighting on Xbox, and much more.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was released on December 9 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X, S and Game Pass, and will reach PS5 in the spring of 2025. The game has earned high marks from critics and Steam users.
