The cult indie RPG Undertale from solo developer Toby Fox has broken its personal record for peak online on Steam almost 10 years after its release.

Recall that until recently, Undertale’s best result on Steam was 10,473 concurrent players, achieved in December 2015. Since then, the peak online has not exceeded 5 thousand people, but the recent event gave the game a serious boost.
The thing is that Undertale was included in the “Big Discounts” section of the Steam Spring Sale with especially advantageous offers: until March 20, the game is available for purchase for only 24 rubles (-90%).
Amid the record discount, Undertale has seen a surge in interest from Steam users, breaking Valve’s personal peak online record twice since the sale began.
Fox himself reported on March 16 that Undertale’s peak online player count on Steam had reached 10,739. Since then, the number has grown slightly to 11,071 concurrent players.

Undertale debuted in September 2015 on PC, and later made its way to PS Vita, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game has earned high marks from both journalists (92-93% on Metacritic) and users (97% on Steam).
Fox is currently working on Deltarune, an episodic sequel to Undertale. The first two chapters are available now (for free), with the third and fourth expected to be released in 2025.
