All you need is a horse, no brains: story-driven platformer Brute Horse will send players to an absurd world where even a horse can become a weapon

Czech studio Place of Departure, founded by former Ministry of Broadcast developers, with the support of publishing label Bohemia Interactive, presented a story trailer for its absurd action platformer Brute Horse.

The events of Brute Horse take place in the strange and dangerous Southern Vulgaria, where the fearless barbarian Brute, his faithful horse and inventor Michelle brought fear to the local monsters.

An accident during a fight with a dragon leaves the horse unable to carry its owner and in danger of death. Brutus shoulders the steed and sets off to find the legendary veterinarian.

Without the ability to use his axe, the only weapon in the hero’s hands (on his shoulders) is a wounded horse. Judging by the trailer, the steed will also be useful for solving puzzles and overcoming platforming difficulties.

Brute Horse will be played in co-op (local only): one participant controls Brutus, and the other takes on the role of Michelle. The characters differ in their fighting style and abilities.

They promise a unique world where logic is “just an assumption,” eccentric characters, and a cartoonish visual style that combines elements of classic animation, collectible figurines, and excessive absurdity.

Brute Horse is expected to be released in 2025 for PC (Steam), PlayStation and Xbox. According to the description on the Valve service page, only English localization is planned for the game so far.
