The open-world shooter Far Cry 4 from Ubisoft and Ubisoft Montreal turns 11 in November. That makes the story that has unfolded with the game even more surprising to fans of the franchise.

Reddit forum users have noticed that the patch released yesterday for the PC version of Far Cry 4, despite the lack of an official list of changes (see the entry in SteamDB), added censorship to the game.
In particular, the update gave tops to the girls who have been walking around the Shanat arena topless for the last 10 years, and also provided the main character with a loincloth in the scene where he appears naked.
Fans were puzzled as to why a game almost 11 years old was suddenly censored – the influence of Chinese giant Tencent, with which Ubisoft is preparing to open a new subsidiary? The reality, however, turned out to be much more prosaic.

In a Reddit post, a Ubisoft representative explained that the April 3 patch for Far Cry 4 mistakenly included files from the Japanese build, which has contained the aforementioned censorship since release. An emergency update has already fixed the issue.
«Don’t worry, we have no plans to censor Far Cry now or in the future. This was just a bug related to a specific regional build and has already been fixed,” Ubisoft reported.
Far Cry 4 debuted in November 2014 on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Since its release, the game has sold over 10 million copies worldwide and has earned several sequels.
