Lately, anyone has been reporting on the success of the fantasy role-playing action film Black Myth: Wukong, but not the developers from the Chinese studio Game Science. This time it was the turn of the “father of PlayStation” Ken Kutaragi.

Let us remind you that sales of Black Myth: Wukong exceeded 10 million copies in three days from release, and by the end of two weeks on the market they reached 18 million – the head of Hero Games, the largest external investor of Game Science, spoke about this at the beginning of the month.

According to VentureBeat journalist Dean Takahashi, information about the new successes of Black Myth: Wukong came from Kutaragi’s speech as part of the Tokyo Game Show 2024 that began earlier this week.

According to the information on the slide from Kutaragi’s presentation (see image above), total sales of Black Myth: Wukong in the first month after release amounted to an impressive 20 million copies.

Insider Tom Henderson added that the achieved result makes Black Myth: Wukong one of the fastest-selling games in history – for example, Elden Ring reached 20 million copies only on its first anniversary.

Black Myth: Wukong was released on August 20 on PC (Steam, EGS, WePlay) and PS5, and the version for Xbox Series X and S is delayed for one reason or another. A major addition to the game is in development.

The game is based on the Chinese novel “Journey to the West” and invites you to take the role of the Monkey King on an adventure full of trials and wonders. Critics rated the project 81% (PC), and on Steam the rating is 96%.
