Guerrilla Games’ post-apocalyptic open-world action game Horizon Zero Dawn debuted on PS4 just seven years ago, but it looks like it’s already getting a remaster.

The Video Games Chronicle (VGC) portal noticed that a page for the unannounced Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for PC and PS5 appeared on the website of the American rating agency Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered received the same description, descriptors (blood, violence, etc.) and age rating (“teen”) from the ESRB as Horizon Zero Dawn. In other words, the content of the remaster is no different from the original game.

Journalists VGC, MP1st and Gematsu spoke about the fact that Horizon Zero Dawn is awaiting a re-release in 2022, citing their sources. Following this, an internal Sony document also leaked to the public, which also confirmed the remaster.

According to rumors, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will offer Horizon Forbidden West-level graphics with updated textures, models, lighting, animations, increased draw distance, as well as additional gameplay amenities.

Horizon Zero Dawn debuted in March 2017 on PS4, and reached PC in 2020 (Steam, GOG, EGS). How Sony will implement the upgrade process for existing game owners (if there is one) is a big question.

The PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn at one time offered increased draw distance and improved performance compared to the PS4 release, but mostly used original materials.
