Anker introduced a device for reading cards in SD and microSD formats, called MagGo USB-C Adapter – it connects to laptops, tablets and smartphones. When working in conjunction with an iPhone 15 or 16, the card reader allows you to record ProRes 4K video at a speed of 60 frames per second to an external storage device – for this, the memory card must support a data transfer rate of 220 MB/s and have a capacity of 256 GB.

The Anker MagGo USB-C Adapter is available in black, white and turquoise for $34.99. The device is MagSafe compatible, allowing you to attach it to the back cover while shooting video. However, in this case, both methods of charging the iPhone are blocked, so the card reader is equipped with an additional USB Type-C port that supports power up to 42.5 W.
The manufacturer promises data transfer speeds of up to 312 MB/s, which is a theoretical maximum for UHS-II class cards. In reality, this figure may be lower due to the type of card used or its age. The Anker MagGo USB-C Adapter will allow you to record video from an iPhone 15 or 16 to an external storage device, even if the speed of the card connected to it is less than 220 MB/s – in this case, a lower frame rate or even lower resolution will be supported.
