Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, citing sources familiar with the situation, spoke about the emergency situation that occurred with the game publisher Annapurna Interactive.
According to Bloomberg, all 25 Annapurna Interactive employees have quit after the publishing house’s management talks about a separation from its parent company (Annapurna Pictures) stalled.
«All 25 Annapurna Interactive employees have collectively resigned, says former team leader Nathan Gary. “This was one of the most difficult decisions we have ever had to make.”
Annapurna owner Megan Ellison, in a conversation with Bloomberg, confirmed what happened and assured that further support of her partners “during this transition period” is the company’s priority.
The new president of Annapurna Interactive, Hector Sanchez, who returned from Epic Games in August, allegedly already told the developers that the company would fulfill all concluded contracts and replace departed employees.
Annapurna Interactive was founded in 2016 with Sanchez’s participation and has since released a number of games, including Kentucky Route Zero, Outer Wilds, What Remains of Edith Finch, Neon White and Stray.
It’s worth noting that Remedy Entertainment’s recently announced Control 2 co-financing deal was with Annapurna Pictures, not Annapurna Interactive, so it won’t be affected by the current situation.
