AMD has published the specifications of the Radeon RX 7800M video card on its website, but AMD has not yet released any official statements or press releases. The new product, equipped with 3840 stream processors, is one of the most powerful AMD mobile video cards and promises performance at the level of the mobile GeForce RTX 4070.

The Radeon RX 7800M is based on the Navi 32 GPU with RDNA 3 architecture and features 60 Compute Units (CUs), equivalent to 3840 stream processors. For comparison, the older model in the line, Radeon RX 7900M, uses Navi 31 with 72 CUs, while the younger models on Navi 33 (RX 7700-7600) have only 32 CUs. Thus, the new graphics card can fill the performance gap between existing models.

The Radeon RX 7800M is configured to resemble the RX 7800 XT desktop graphics card, using the same GPU with 60 compute units (CUs). However, the mobile version received a reduced memory bus – 192-bit versus 256-bit for the desktop version. The GDDR6 video memory capacity is 12 GB, chips with a speed of 18 Gbit/s are used, providing a bandwidth of up to 432 GB/s. The Infinity Cache size has also been reduced from 64 MB to 48 MB.

According to AMD, the Radeon RX 7800M GPU has a base clock of 2145 MHz and a TDP of 180 W, which is comparable to the flagship Radeon RX 7900M, which can consume up to 200 W in Boost mode. Judging by early leaks, the RX 7800M is capable of outperforming even the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 mobile graphics card, but is inferior to the mobile RTX 4080.

Presumably, the silent launch of the Radeon RX 7800M could mean limited availability of the graphics card, as was the case with the RX 7900M, which was produced in very limited quantities for certain devices. At the moment, only one model is known that uses the RX 7900M – an external graphics card OneXGPU 2. We can only hope that the RX 7800M will become more widespread.
