Apple introduced new wireless headphones AirPods 4. The company calls them “the most comfortable AirPods yet.” The new product retains the open design, offers a “significant improvement” in sound and has support for personalized spatial audio. A version of the device with support for active noise reduction was also released.
The new AirPods 4 will be available in two versions: the initial AirPods 4 and the advanced AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation, with support for the active noise reduction system. This technology is first used in the basic line of AirPods headphones. The standard version of AirPods 4 costs $129, the advanced version is priced at $179. Both are available for pre-order now and will be available on September 20th.
Apple has added support for improved Find My features for the new AirPods. For example, a built-in speaker appeared in the headphone case. Previously, it was only available on the Pro model. The case itself now supports wireless charging. In addition, it is equipped with a USB-C connector. Together with recharging from the case, AirPods 4 will work on a single charge for up to 30 hours.
With the release of iOS 18, AirPods, including Pro, will receive support for new gestures for interacting with the Siri digital assistant. For example, Siri’s questions can be answered not only with your voice, but also with head movement – you just need to nod to answer “yes” or shake from side to side to answer “no”.
AirPods 4 are equipped with new voice isolation technology, the performance of which is ensured by the H2 chip in combination with machine learning technologies. It removes background noise, thereby highlighting the user’s voice and making communication more comfortable. This can be useful when the user is, for example, in a noisy environment. In addition to this, Apple has revealed that the AirPods 4 come with spatial audio support with dynamic head tracking.
