The PC version of the fantasy role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios recently received official support for custom mods, and the popularity of the modifications was not long in coming.

According to the head of Larian Studios Swen Vincke, in the first 24 hours after the premiere of the seventh patch alone, Baldur’s Gate 3 users installed more than a million modifications through the game’s built-in manager.

A few hours later, Scott Reismanis, the founder of the mod.io platform, through which mod support is implemented in Baldur’s Gate 3, added that the figure had already exceeded 3 million installations and continues to grow.

«Modding is quite popular,” Vincke concluded with his message. This is a clear understatement: on Nexus Mods alone, mods for Baldur’s Gate 3 have been downloaded more than 200 million times.

Official mod support in Baldur’s Gate 3 includes the aforementioned manager and the BG3 Toolkit modding tool. The editor will allow you to add new weapons, armor, classes, subclasses, spells, and the like to the game.

Less than a week has passed since the debut of the BG3 Toolkit, modders have already unlocked the developer mode in the tool, which gives access to all functions, including editing levels, saves, and so on.

The seventh patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 has so far been released only on PC (Steam, GOG), and will reach Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X and S in October. Larian plans to include several more updates (crossplay, photo mode, other improvements).
