AMD introduced an update to its Fluid Motion Frames 2 game FPS enhancement technology as part of a technical preview, fixing bugs and improving overall stability. In addition, optimization has been announced for the game Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, which until now was impossible to run with Frame Generation on some systems, since the game only supports AMD FSR 2.
In addition to the official list of bug fixes, the AFMF 2 update includes new game optimizations and general stability fixes. Specific changes in this part are not disclosed. Optimizations for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 are also not specified, but AMD encourages users to use AFMF 2 in conjunction with AMD FSR 2 support. This will bring the Frame Generation experience closer to FSR 3, but will not achieve all the benefits that are available when using the built-in game engine of Frame Generation technology, as in FSR 3+ or DLSS 3+.
According to the results of testing AFMF 2 by the community, the technology has proven to be quite functional and is significantly superior to the original AFMF in this regard. While in-engine solutions are still preferred, AFMF 2 currently looks like a well-optimized driver-level solution for games without native frame generation support, allowing more gamers to enjoy high refresh rates.
