The massive seventh patch for the release version of the fantasy role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios has finally become available for download on PC. The update was truly huge – almost a thousand changes.
The two main features of the patch were support for mods (with a tool for creating them and a manager built into the game) and the expansion of “evil” endings (including those not for Dark Seduction) with as many as 13 new videos.
The update also comes with new legendary actions for enemies in Valor mode, improvements to split-screen (now dynamic), and a number of various improvements and fixes.
The changes affected the interface, gameplay, animations, dialogues, scripts, cutscenes, balance and performance (reduced memory consumption when loading a level for the first time and improved the game’s performance in locations with a large number of NPCs).
The developers have also eliminated many bugs and causes of crashes. The list turned out to be so large (under a thousand items) that it did not fit into the Steam publication – the full version is available on the Baldur’s Gate 3 website (beware, spoilers).
Larian also mentioned that the studio has several more patches for Baldur’s Gate 3 in its plans (crossplay, photo mode, other improvements), but every story comes to an end: the team is preparing to switch to its next project.
Baldur’s Gate 3 left early access on August 3, 2023 on PC (Steam, GOG), and subsequently reached Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X and S. The project has earned more than 200 awards in the Game of the Year category, including the Hugo Award “
