Stunning progress in the development of the shadPS4 emulator, which made it possible to play Bloodborne on PC for the first time, may not be the only positive news for fans of the cult gothic action game from FromSoftware.
Insider Daniel Richtman, also known under the pseudonym DanielRPK, shared with his Patreon audience (paid subscription required) information about a new development related to Bloodborne.
According to Richtman, Sony Interactive Entertainment (the owner of the rights to the franchise) has launched an unknown gaming project directly related to the popular PS4 exclusive.
DanielRPK hastened to clarify that he has no information about the nature of the mysterious product: “I hear that a new Bloodborne game project is in development. Not sure if this is a sequel or a remaster.”
Rumors about a potential Bloodborne upgrade for new target platforms have been circulating for several years, but have yet to receive confirmation. In February, it was reported that Sony had allegedly returned to the idea of porting the game to PC.
Last fall, Richtman also claimed that Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions were taking on a feature-length Bloodborne film starring It star Bill Skarsgard.
Bloodborne was released in March 2015 and over the past nine and a half years has not made it beyond the PS4. According to a December leak from Insomniac Games, by February 2022, sales of the game reached 7.46 million copies.
