Taiwanese technology company HTC has released the Viverse Create app for its Viverse platform, which allows you to create games and virtual worlds without programming skills.
The new tool allows you to create multiplayer games that are compatible with a variety of devices, including virtual reality headsets, PCs and smartphones. Everything happens through a web browser without the need for high-end gaming or VR hardware. This means, writes SiliconANGLE, that anyone can log in and create a Viverse world from almost any device.
The Metaverse is a network of interconnected 3D virtual spaces using virtual, mixed and augmented reality. It allows people to create and interact in shared virtual spaces to socialize, work, and play. The Metaverse enables real-time collaboration, where people use digital avatars to represent themselves and move freely within virtual space.
Viverse development manager Andranik Aslanyan, in an interview with SiliconANGLE, explains that “from an application point of view, the platform’s audience is divided into vloggers, event organizers, gamers and teachers. And since everything is accessible through a browser, for example, it is much easier for teachers to interact with students without going through the process of installing any programs on their computers.”
To log into Viverse Create, users simply create a digital avatar using a webcam to create a face image or select a cartoon avatar, but they can also import their own 3D model if they have one. After this, you will be able to join any existing Viverse world or start creating your own.
There are two ways to create worlds in Viverse Create. The first is a no-code tool that allows users to enter the world and import virtual models, assets, and media directly from their PC or mobile device. This method also provides direct integration with Sketchfab’s 3D and AR library, which contains millions of free models. All this does not require any programming or modeling experience.
The second way is to use the Google Chrome browser extension PlayCanvas, an advanced game creation tool that gives you detailed control over the construction of virtual worlds. PlayCanvas allows you to directly control every aspect of the 3D world, models, animation and interactivity, including programming, and can be used with or without code. Through the extension, you can directly publish created content to Viverse.
Once created, worlds can be published as “public”, “link-only”, or “private” (available only to the author). The platform can also create large-scale public or private events that can accommodate many users for live streaming, such as concerts.
Interestingly, the launch of Viverse Create coincides with the announcement of HTC’s Polygon Streaming technology, which optimizes the transmission of 3D content, reducing bandwidth and processing power requirements. This technology allows you to render only what the user sees at the moment, which significantly reduces the amount of necessary calculations.
