The company xAI, owned by Elon Musk, has released beta versions of the Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini neural networks. The new Grok-2 algorithm is already used to generate images based on text descriptions on social network X, but at this stage only paid subscribers on Premium and Premium+ plans can try it out.
«We are pleased to announce the launch of an early preview of Grok-2, which is a significant improvement over the previous version of Grok-1.5 and provides advanced capabilities in communication, coding, and reasoning. At the same time, we are introducing Grok-2 mini, a small but capable version of Grok-2,” xAI said in a statement.
The report also said that an early version of Grok-2 was tested in the LMSYS benchmarks. Soon, both algorithms will become available to developers through the company’s corporate API.
The first images that X users created using the new algorithm show that Grok-2 appears to have no limitations, including when creating images of politicians. However, with the upcoming US elections, xAI is likely to face pressure from the authorities, and the company will have to limit Grok-2’s image generation capabilities.
The text below the published images indicates that Grok-2 uses the Black Forest Labs FLUX.1 algorithm to generate images. At the moment there is not much information about the real capabilities of a neural network. According to the developers, Grok-2 is better at generating program code, creating texts and summarizing news, although there are no facts confirming this yet. In the future, the developers plan to deploy functions based on Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini on the X social network. We are talking about improving search tools, publication analytics, etc.
