The GB_2 Development Team announced the release of a major update for its NoVR modification, which allows you to enjoy the VR shooter Half-Life: Alyx from Valve without a virtual reality helmet.
Let’s remember that the NoVR mod for Half-Life: Alyx went into early access at the end of last March and has been allowing users to go through the entire story campaign of the game without a VR headset for more than a year.
Since then, Half-Life: Alyx in the NoVR version has received about ten updates, but the last of them, until recently, dated back to December 2023. The patch released recently is the first in more than seven months.
Among the main features of the summer update of the NoVR mod for Half-Life: Alyx, the developers call:
- The ability to complete all “Electric Circuit” puzzles;
- The opportunity to get all achievements in the game;
- Numerous changes to the maps in order to make movement on them smoother and prevent breakage of the level logic;
- A new low-precision sight (just like in Half-Life 2) – forces you to plan your shots more carefully and use front sight upgrades more often.
You can update the mod through the official launcher for Half-Life: Alyx NoVR – the utility itself will download and install the patch. The developers have also prepared manual installation instructions for Steam Deck users.
By the end of 2024, they plan to expand the list of mods compatible with Half-Life: Alyx NoVR, add animations for using objects and weapons, further improve movement and introduce puzzles with spheres.
Almost 200 thousand people have downloaded Half-Life: Alyx NoVR since its early access release. You can now join the game itself for 646 rubles – until August 19, it is on sale on Steam with a 66 percent discount.
