Galax is preparing to release the GeForce RTX 4070 OC 2X video card, equipped with slower GDDR6 memory, writes the VideoCardz portal. The original version of this accelerator is available with faster GDDR6X memory. The new version of the video card will be offered in exactly the same packaging, so before purchasing it is recommended to take a closer look at the technical characteristics of the card to detect the difference.
The new version of the Galax GeForce RTX 4070 OC 2X with GDDR6 memory will use the same cooling system as the original model. The thickness of the video card will also not change and will amount to two expansion slots. For additional power, the accelerator is equipped with one 8-pin PCIe connector. As VideoCardz writes, the printed circuit board of the new version of the video card will be the same as that of the original model with GDDR6X memory, but there are no full-fledged pictures of the board yet, so it is not yet possible to compare the difference in detail.
It is also known that the new version of Galax GeForce RTX 4070 OC 2X will receive a different graphics processor – AD104-251 instead of AD104-250. However, the number of CUDA cores in it will be the same and will be 5888 pieces.
The main difference between the two video cards will be the memory used. The model based on AD104-251 will receive GDDR6 memory with a speed of 20 Gbit/s per pin. The AD104-250-based version works with GDDR6X memory at 21 Gbps. The memory capacity will not change and will be 12 GB. Also, the memory bus width, which is 192 bits, will not change. Nothing has been reported yet about the power consumption of the new version of the Galax GeForce RTX 4070 OC 2X.
