Although the Halloween horror film franchise has already turned forty-five, only one game based on horror films has been released in all this time, and that was back in 1983. In the near future, however, this will change.
The American studio Boss Team Games, known for the asymmetric online action game Evil Dead: The Game, released in 2022, announced through the IGN portal the development of two games based on Halloween.
Both projects are being created in collaboration with the producers of Halloween, and will allow users to relive iconic moments from the film (probably the original one) and play as classic characters from the franchise.
One of the two games is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 with the participation of the director of the first Halloween, John Carpenter: “As an avid gamer, I am excited to bring Michael Myers to life in this game. I hope it scares you crazy.”
Judging by the poster accompanying the announcement (attached above) and the official website, one of the projects is called Halloween: The Game. We can assume that it will offer a similar gaming experience to Evil Dead: The Game.
According to Boss Team Games CEO Steve Harris, the team is determined to release a unique product that will appeal to fans of both the original film and video game fans.
The Halloween franchise tells the story of the atrocities of escaped maniac Michael Myers, who terrorizes the residents of the fictional town of Haddonfield during Halloween celebrations.
