The social network VKontakte will update the rules for verifying accounts and communities, simplifying the process of obtaining a “blue tick”. Now, not only community owners, but also their official representatives will be able to apply for verification. The minimum audience threshold will be reduced to 5,000 subscribers, and the activity requirement will be changed: it will be enough to publish “one piece of content” in 30 days.

Currently, to receive a “blue checkmark”, accounts and communities must publish at least four messages and ten stories within 30 days, and only the owner of the community has the right to apply for verification. Vera Sovetkina, Director of the Product “Communities and Author Experience”, explained that the update to the verification rules is related to the development of the platform and the analysis of authors’ requests. “Our goal is to ensure that creators of original content can confirm their authenticity without unnecessary formalities and stand out among many communities,” she said.

The company also plans to increase the importance of verification within the platform. The social network reported that the “blue checkmark” will receive a new role in the search and feed, and its visual design and positioning will also change. The innovations will come into force in the first half of 2025, the company reported. VK Holding also published its financial results for 2024. According to the report, the company’s revenue amounted to 147.6 billion rubles, which is 23% more than in 2023.
