The Chinese company Xiaomi, known for its home appliances and mobile electronics, entered the electric vehicle market at a rather difficult stage of its development in terms of competition, but this did not stop it from delivering 200,000 cars to customers in less than a year.

The anniversary model, as reported by CnEVPost with reference to the company’s representatives, was handed over to customers this Tuesday. The owners of the Xiaomi SU7 sedan in a special red-pink color were a young couple from China, as noted on the pages of the social network Weibo. In order to ship the first 100,000 electric cars, Xiaomi had to spend 229 days from the start of sales. The next hundred thousand were collected in 119 days. Since last summer, the Xiaomi electric car assembly plant in China has been working in two shifts, but the queues still stretched for at least seven months.

It is noteworthy that the Xiaomi SU7 in a new color became the first such example and at the same time the 200,000th electric car of the brand. A similar option appeared in the automaker’s catalog on December 31 last year, a special coloring of the car was provided in honor of the 15th anniversary of the company. The announcement of Xiaomi SU7 took place on March 28 last year. Last year, the company managed to deliver more than 135,000 cars and accept orders for 248,000 units. By the beginning of this month, the total circulation of SU7 exceeded 180,000 units.

By the end of the current year, Xiaomi expects to produce 350,000 electric vehicles instead of the initially planned 300,000, but in addition to the SU7 sedan in three “civilian” trim levels, this number will include the 1,500-horsepower SU7 Ultra sports car, as well as the YU7 crossover, sales of which will start this summer. The company’s second electric vehicle assembly plant in Beijing will be launched in order to achieve the set targets.
