Microsoft is gearing up to launch Copilot for Gaming, an AI-powered assistant that will act as a guide when loading and launching games, as well as mentor gamers during gameplay. Initially, the AI coach will be accessible through the Xbox mobile app and will act as a companion or assistant displayed on a separate screen.

Microsoft positions Copilot for Gaming as a kind of assistant that will accompany gamers, offering tips and tutorials on how to play, as well as useful information about the gaming world. During the press conference, Sonali Yadav, Microsoft’s product manager for gaming AI, demonstrated several use cases for Copilot for Gaming.
One of them demonstrated how Copilot helps an Overwatch 2 player by analyzing the mistakes he made while trying to advance without his teammates. In Overwatch 2, an AI coach is ready to help the player choose a hero that best complements the team. Copilot knows the strengths and weaknesses of characters and is able to recommend ideal combinations of skills in pairs.
In Minecraft, Copilot advises players on the process of crafting items and the ingredients needed for this. Copilot reads information from the player’s screen, so it can provide them with the necessary hints in real time. In addition, Copilot has proven itself to be an experienced cheater, suggesting where to find certain materials for crafting.
These features of Copilot for Gaming won’t be available during its initial launch next month. Microsoft plans to test early versions of Copilot with Xbox Insiders through the Xbox mobile app in April.
Experts find it difficult to assess the feasibility of the Copilot for Gaming project, since it is difficult to understand what exactly the company will provide to testers in April. It seems that Microsoft wants to introduce AI into any area of human life – from space and advanced technologies to family psychology and child care.
