As planned, sales of two new processors from the Ryzen 5000 series based on the Zen 3 architecture for the Socket AM4 platform began today. The Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 7 5800XT models have already appeared in the assortment of major Western retailers.

Yesterday, AMD denied rumors that the start of sales of the Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 7 5800XT processors, as well as the new Ryzen 9000 series chips, was postponed to August. As VideoCardz writes, the Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 7 5800XT can already be purchased, for example, from the large American retailer Newegg. AMD has priced the Ryzen 9 5900XT at $349, and the Ryzen 7 5800XT at $249.
The Ryzen 9 5900XT is a 16-core processor with support for 32 virtual threads. It received the same number of cores as the flagship model Ryzen 9 5950X, but the base and maximum frequencies of the Ryzen 9 5900XT are 100 MHz lower. The new product has 64 MB of L3 cache memory, and its TDP is 105 W.
In turn, the Ryzen 7 5800XT received eight cores and sixteen threads. It operates at 3.8 to 4.8 GHz – the latter 100 MHz higher than the Ryzen 7 5800X. The new product has 32 MB of L3 cache, and the TDP is also 105 W.
VideoCardz notes that AMD has supported the AM4 platform for almost 9 years (Socket AM4 was introduced in 2016). During this time, the company released more than 140 processor models for it. We won’t be surprised if the Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 7 5800XT are not the last chips for this platform.
