Xiaomi has officially unveiled a new electric car in China — the SU7 Ultra. This is a modified version of the SU7, with which Xiaomi is challenging Porsche in the luxury sports car market. Moreover, the company is not going to stop at competing with Porsche and intends to compete with other major automakers.

Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun said at today’s launch that the company’s goal is to make the SU7 Ultra a competitor to Porsche in performance, Tesla in technology, and Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW in luxury. The Xiaomi CEO, without undue modesty, called the new car a dream car for the current era.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is a fully electric sedan with a 3000 mm wheelbase, 5070 mm in length, 1970 mm in width and 1465 mm in height. Thus, the new product has become larger than the standard SU7. The car weighs an impressive 2360 kg, a large part of which is accounted for by the capacious battery.

The electric car is powered by three electric motors with a total maximum power of 1138 kW (1547 hp) and a maximum torque of 1770 Nm. The power plant allows the SU7 Ultra to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 1.98 seconds, and from 0 to 200 km / h in 6.09 seconds. Xiaomi claims that this is the fastest serial four-door car on the planet. The maximum speed of the electric car reaches 359 km / h.

The SU7 Ultra is powered by a triple block of CATL Qilin 2.0 lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 93.7 kWh, which provides a range of 630 km according to the CLTC cycle. Fast charging is supported – the battery is replenished from 10 to 80% in just 11 minutes.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra rides on 21-inch wheels with Pirelli P Zero 5 tires and 430mm carbon-ceramic brake discs at the front. These are the largest brake discs installed on a sports car to date. The rear brake discs of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra are slightly smaller at 410mm. The car also features 6-piston Akebono calipers at the front axle and 4-piston calipers at the rear. Xiaomi claims that the SU7 Ultra has a braking distance of just 30.8 meters from 100 km/h.

Xiaomi also offers buyers the option to pay an extra 100,000 yuan for a racing package, which includes upgraded shock absorbers, tires, and high-performance brake pads. According to the company’s CEO, the SU7 Ultra with the racing package is capable of competing with the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, which costs 1.998 million yuan in China. By the way, the Xiaomi electric car beat the aforementioned Porsche on the Shanghai International Circuit — 2:09.944 versus 2:11.28.

The interior of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra makes extensive use of carbon fiber. The car has sports seats trimmed in Alcantara, a paddle shifter behind the steering wheel, and a large display on the center console. The SU7 Ultra has 25 speakers, including independent speakers for the driver. Other features include two 50W wireless chargers for smartphones. The SU7 Ultra supports voice commands and can recognize the owner’s voice.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra intelligent driving system uses three LiDAR sensors, twelve cameras, and five millimeter-wave radars. The driver assistance system includes partial autopilot, automatic parking, and autonomous emergency braking.

Xiaomi started collecting pre-orders for the SU7 Ultra back in October 2024. Today, it was announced that the starting price of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is 529,900 yuan ($72,830). For comparison, the most affordable new Porsche in China is offered for 650,000 yuan ($89,530). Meanwhile, the starting price of the regular SU7 is 215,900 yuan ($29,738).

Despite the rather high price, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric car has become a hit – in the first 10 minutes since the start of pre-orders, the company collected more than 6,900 applications, and in two hours their number exceeded 10,000. Moreover, these are real buyers, since the pre-order is accompanied by a non-refundable deposit of 20,000 yuan. Deliveries will begin in the near future. We add that on Sunday, March 2, Xiaomi will present the SU7 Ultra for the international market at the MWC 2025 exhibition in Barcelona.
