«Progress MS-28 has completed its flight. Today, the cargo ship, which spent six months on the ISS, was deorbited, entered the dense layers of the atmosphere and was destroyed. According to the TsNIIMash Flight Control Center, the unburned elements of the ship’s structure fell in a non-navigable area of the southern Pacific Ocean,” Roscosmos said in a statement.
It was also said that on March 2, the Progress MS-28 spacecraft will be replaced by Progress MS-30, whose launch is scheduled for February 28. The rocket with the spacecraft has already been installed in a vertical position at the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
Let us recall that the Progress MS-28 spacecraft was launched on August 15, 2024, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle was used to launch the spacecraft into space. Docking with the orbital station took place on August 17.
The cargo ship delivered more than 2.6 tons of cargo to the ISS, including fuel, various equipment, food, equipment for conducting scientific experiments, etc. During the time the Progress MS-28 ship was in space, it was used nine times to correct the ISS orbit, including two maneuvers to avoid space debris.
