Many people are interested in flagship smartphones that stand out for their attractive design and advanced features. However, the largest sales volume is provided by mid-range and budget devices, so manufacturers do not forget to regularly release such new products to the market. This week, MediaTek introduced new platforms of the Dimensity 7000 and 6000 series, which are aimed at use in affordable Android smartphones.

Last fall, MediaTek unveiled the flagship Dimensity 9400 microprocessor, as well as the Dimensity 8400 chip aimed at advanced mid-range devices. Now they are joined by the Dimensity 7400, Dimensity 7400X, and Dimensity 6400.

The Dimensity 7400 and Dimensity 7400X chips are manufactured using a 4 nm process technology and are equipped with four Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of up to 2.6 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of up to 2.0 GHz. The Arm Mali-G615 MC2 accelerator is responsible for graphics. Both new products are focused on increasing energy efficiency. According to the manufacturer, energy consumption has been reduced by 36% compared to last year’s versions. Like last year’s Dimensity 7300X, the new Dimensity 7400X supports features for foldable devices, including an additional external display.

The new platforms are equipped with the MediaTek NPU 6.0 neural coprocessor, which provides support for artificial intelligence-based functions. NPU performance has increased by 15% compared to that used in the Dimensity 7300. As for AI functions, the Dimensity 7400 chips prioritize the camera and increased gaming performance. Among the advantages, we highlight improved shooting quality in low light and optimized use of device resources in games. Sensors with a resolution of 200 MP are supported.

As for the Dimensity 6400, the chip is intended for entry-level smartphones. It is manufactured using a 6 nm process technology and is equipped with two Cortex-A76 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. At the moment, it is unknown which smartphones will be the first to receive the new MediaTek chips.
