Chinese media have begun publishing reviews of the new Radeon RX 7650 GRE graphics card, released exclusively for China. Tests of the new product show that the card is faster than the GeForce RTX 4060, its main competitor. According to Expreview, it is on average about 7% more productive than the RTX 4060. However, the advantage of the Radeon card is not observed in all games. In some, the new product lags behind its competitor.

It is worth recalling that the Radeon RX 7650 GRE uses the Navi 33 graphics processor on the RDNA 3 architecture, containing 32 execution units and 2048 stream processors. The chip has a declared frequency of 2695 MHz in Boost mode. The card received 8 GB of GDDR6 memory with a speed of 18 Gbps per contact and a 128-bit bus. Memory bandwidth is 288 GB/s. The declared power consumption level is 170 W, which is more than the Radeon RX 7600 (165 W) with the same amount of memory, but less than the RX 7600 XT (190 W) with 16 GB of memory.

Expreview got his hands on the Sapphire RX 7650 GRE Black Diamond Edition model with an additional factory GPU overclock to 2810 MHz. However, before starting the tests, the reviewer reset the frequency of the new product’s graphics chip to the reference value and compared the card with the RTX 4060. The gaming sample included: Eternal Damnation, Rainbow Six Siege, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Far Cry 6, Cyberpunk 2077, Borderlands 3 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

The target gaming resolution of the video card is 1080p. On average, the RX 7650 GRE turned out to be slightly faster than the RTX 4060 in most of the games launched. The new product showed the largest gap from its competitor in Eternal Damnation and Borderlands 3. In the first, its advantage was up to 42%, in the second – up to 26%.

However, the situation changed as usual with the launch of games with ray tracing, where the RTX 4060 showed higher results. In RT tests of Far Cry 6 and Cyberpunk 2077, the GeForce RTX 4060 model was significantly faster than the newcomer. The Expreview reviewer also tested both cards at 1440p (the AMD card also has an advantage there) and in the 3DMark benchmark. More detailed test results can be found at this link.

Expreview tests show that the RX 7650 GRE delivers performance that is virtually indistinguishable from the regular RX 7600 model. The latter, in turn, demonstrates almost identical results in raster graphics to the RTX 4060 in games at 1080p resolution.
