Finnish company Nokia has long ago gotten rid of the mobile device business, focusing on the segment of equipment for communication networks, but it does not feel entirely comfortable in this area either, intending to earn money on data processing centers. New head Justin Hotard is ready to help it with this, who will move to its staff from Intel on April 1.

Until now, as The Wall Street Journal notes, Justin Hotard, as executive vice president, headed Intel’s division specializing in data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure. From April 1, he will head the Finnish company Nokia, and its current head Pekka Lundmark will continue to advise his successor until the end of this year, and then leave the company. He headed the Finnish supplier of equipment for communication networks since 2020.
Nokia recently signed an agreement with network solutions provider Infinera to buy its business for $2.3 billion. Overall, the data center segment should become the main area of business development and revenue growth for Nokia in the coming years. If we return to Justin Hotard’s experience, after joining Intel last year, he held senior positions at Hewlett Packard Enterprise and NCR Corporation. This appointment is inextricably linked with Nokia’s intentions to actively develop the data center segment.
