As it became known, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII will get a VR version this spring. The adaptation will be exclusive to the standalone virtual reality headsets Quest 3 and Quest 3S.

The announcement of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII for VR was accompanied by a minute-long trailer (see video below) demonstrating the capabilities of the new version. The project is being developed in collaboration with Firaxis Games by the Australian PlaySide Studios.

The VR version of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII will offer you to lead your people, expand your territory, build cities and wonders, fight, cooperate and explore new technologies from an unusual point of view for the series at the command table.

They promise a face-to-face meeting with iconic leaders of civilizations, an interface specially adapted for VR (with the ability to change viewing points and transfer the command table to your surroundings) and multiplayer for four.

Sid Meier’s Civilization franchise executive producer Dennis Shirk called the announcement of the VR version of the game a “landmark moment” for the series and its “first foray into the atmospheric world of virtual and augmented reality.”

Meanwhile, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII for flat screens is gearing up for release following the expanded access: on February 11, the game will be released on Steam (PC, Mac, Linux) and EGS (PC), on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch.
