Having left prison in the summer of 2021 thanks to the pardon of the then President of South Korea, the grandson of the founder of Samsung Electronics Lee Jae-Yong (Lee Jae-Yong) took the post of executive chairman of the board of directors of the corporation founded by his grandfather. Attempts by Korean justice bodies to bring him to criminal liability have been undertaken since then, and the prosecutor’s office is again preparing to protest the deviations of the accusations by the high court of Seoul.

Last fall, the prosecutor’s office filed an appeal against an acquittal sentenced in February of the same year. Recently, Seoul’s high court rejected this appeal, but now Reuters reports that the prosecutor’s office is preparing this decision to appeal to the South Korea Supreme Court, which is a higher authority with respect to the high court of Seoul.
Recall that the prosecution insists on the guilt of Lee Zhe Yong in manipulating securities, a reporting for reporting and excess of official powers during the 2015 transaction to merge the two Samsung divisions, which provided the heir to the founder with the necessary administrative resource to obtain control over the corporation. Lee Jae Yong continues to deny his guilt, insisting that he was not going to harm shareholders and investors by his actions. When a hearing in this case in the South Court of South Korea will take place, has not yet been specified. The prosecution insists on the punishment of Lee Jae Yong in the form of a large fine and five years of imprisonment.
