Not everyone smiles good luck in the form of the opportunity to purchase a GEFORCE RTX of the 50th series in the Founds Edition of Nvidia itself. However, the ESSDEE3D user from the Reddit forum still managed to get the GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition, but the acquisition turned out to be at least strange.

The user received a map with unusual factory marriage – on its cooling system there is an engraving that indicates that it is RTX 5090. There is nothing to rejoice or envy here – EssDEE3D has not received RTX 5090 for $ 999, which NVIDIA asks for the standard version of RTX 5080. This is all The same GeForce RTX 5080, as written on the box and in the commodity check. Just at the FoxConn factory, a NVIDIA partner for the production of reference models of video cards, one of the collectors made an error, as a result of which a cooling system from RTX 5090 was installed on RTX 5080.
Most likely, the error is due to the fact that the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 performed by the Founders Edition are equipped with absolutely identical (with the exception of marking) cooling systems with a thickness of two expansion slots. Printing boards of both video cards are also the same, with the exception of their VRM power subsystems. Nevertheless, this case hints at the possible problems of NVIDIA or her FOXCONN partner with the quality control of the assembly of reference graphics cards of the new series. Whether this is an isolated case is still unknown.
The resulting ESSDEE3D video card is determined by the Windows operating system and the GPU-Z program as RTX 5080. On the one hand, the user may be pleased that he now has one of the rare reference RTX 5080 video cards in the world. On the other hand, he will probably have problems when reselling it in the future – try to prove that such a marking was originally.
One of the commentators on the Reddit forum suggested buying a video card at a recommended retail price and without unnecessary questions. In reality, many gamers now, in the context of a strong deficit of the GEFORCE RTX of the 50th series, will probably be ready to buy it at a higher price, despite the mistake in the marking.
