Using the opportunity to turn to the Volkswagen team in Wolfsburg, the general director of Thomas Schaefer emphasized that it would form the brand in the era of electric vehicles. The next-generation electric GOLF and T-ROC crossover will be released on the SSP platform, and 500,000 cars of each model will be produced annually in Wolfsburg. Unified system architecture will create various models of electric vehicles with lower costs.

The concept of the cheapest electric car of the brand will be shown to the general public in early March, but for now the company is limited to a demonstration of the sketch of its front. This rather high hatchback, apparently, will become the most compact Volkswagen electric vehicle, as it will be in the model hierarchy below ID.2all. As noted in the press release, “this completely new model will be Volkswagen in the original sense of this term.” Recall that the word “Volkswagen” translates as a “folk car”.

Last year, Volkswagen managed to sell 383 100 electric vehicles, and in total, since the debut of the ID family in 2019, the circulation of its representatives reached 1.35 million pieces. Of these, the ID.3 model formed about half a million copies. With an affordable electric car for 20,000 euros produced in Europe, Volkswagen clearly claims to protect its market positions from the onslaught of Chinese competitors, while the company promises to make its budget electric car beneficial for itself in production. So far, the car concern is able to hold the status of the second largest automaker in the world.
