The role action of Dragon Age: The Veilguard from BioWare was conceived as a game-service, but it turned into an “most of the same-sexing year”. It seems that the Electronic Arts publishing house considers this transformation a mistake.
Recall, on the release of Dragon Age: The VeilGuard attracted 1.5 million players, which is almost 50 % lower than the indicators expected by the EA management. As a result of the subsequent restructuring in BioWare, less than 100 employees remained.
EA CEO, Andrew Wilson, and the financial director of Stuart Canfield, as part of the company’s report for the third quarter of the current financial year, commented on what went wrong with the game.
According to Wilson, despite the trouble -free launch and positive reviews of the press with players, Dragon Age: The Veilguard did not find a response “with a fairly wide audience in conditions of high competition in this market.”
«To break beyond the scope of the main audience, the games need to be responding to the changing requests of gamers, which, in addition to a qualitative narrative, are increasingly looking for the functions of a joint world and a deeper involvement, ”Wilson said.
Kanfield added that the results of Dragon Age: The VeilGuard confirm the variability of the industry and emphasize the importance of the distribution of resources in favor of “our most significant and promising capabilities.”
According to rumors, Dragon Age: The VeilGuard has lost the elements of games-services at the preliminary production stage, at which the new Mass Effect is still located. It is possible that the transformation, but in the opposite direction, is also waiting for it now.
