Intel’s need to reduce capital costs for this year by $ 4 billion, as representatives of Tweakers resource not affect the company’s readiness from the Netherlands ASML, the first lithographic scanner of Twinscan EXE: 5200, suitable for serial production of chips using Intel 14A technology. The system refers to the generation of EUV equipment with a high value of the numerical aperture (High-Na).
Formally, ASML has already shipped three copies of such a technique, but they belonged to the Twinscan Exe model: 5000, designed for experiments and conducting research activities, and in serial quantities the chips can be produced only when using scanners of the Twinscan Exe model: 5200 and later. In addition to Intel, the Taiwanese TSMC was supposed to receive early equipment samples.
According to Dutch sources with reference to the management of the equipment manufacturer, Intel in the coming months will begin to receive Twinscan Exe scanner components: 5200. Among other things, such a scanner allows you to process more than 185 silicon plates in an hour, providing higher performance compared to the experimental model Twinscan Exe: 5000. The release of chips using Intel 14A technology can be established next year, albeit in limited quantities. ASML High-Na EUV class equipment will begin to supply massively in 2028.
The even higher value of the numerical aperture at 0.75 can appear in ASML equipment in 2032. Each lithographic scanner of this class costs several hundred million US dollars, but according to the Dutch media, until Intel is ready to save on their purchase, understanding the importance of the timely development of advanced technologies.
