The Canadian studio Bioware, owned by Electronic Arts, confirmed the new part of its science fiction role series Mass Effect in December 2020, but the development has not yet advanced far.

Recall that the last time about the state of production of the next Mass Effect in BioWare officially reported in the summer of 2023 – then the game was at the pre -production stage, that is, it has not yet passed into active development.
The head of the development of the new game Michael Gamble (Michael Gamble) in early February 2025, when responded to one of the fans on the social network X, confirmed that after a year and a half the project was still not ready for full production.

Against the backdrop of the unpreparedness of the next Mass Effect, Electronic Arts had a restructuring in Bioware, due to which some employees were transferred to other teams. According to rumors, less than 100 people remained in the studio because of this.
The new Mass Effect is created by the main BioWare team under the guidance of veterans of the original trilogy. Earlier it was reported that the game will offer a photorealistic graphics and a familiar adult tone. The release is expected in the area of 2026−2027.
