Instagram✴ has expanded the opportunities for creative expression for Reels creators and allowed them to add up to 20 audio tracks to one video. After adding tracks, you can edit them and leave only the necessary fragments. The feature is available to users around the world.
Previously, creators had to use third-party applications to mix multiple pieces of music into one video. Now you can add a new track directly in the Reels editor by clicking on the “Add to mix” button.
«Running a multi-track audio editor in Reels gives creators creative flexibility, allowing them to mix audio with elements such as text, stickers, and clips. And all in order to express their creativity and ideas the way they see it,” the company said in a statement. At the same time, Instagram✴ will automatically indicate the name of the author of the sound mix, and other users will be able to create their own videos based on it, TechCrunch reports.
The innovation once again confirms the social network’s intention to focus on developing the short video format. Earlier this month, Instagram✴ CEO Adam Mosseri said the platform had no plans to compete with YouTube in the long-form video space, but would instead focus on sharing short clips between users.
«Long videos are less suitable for tasks that involve user interaction. For example, it is less likely that a 10 or 20 minute video will be forwarded to a friend, Mosseri noted on his Instagram✴ Reel. “That’s why we don’t plan to get into the long-form video space, because our main goal is to unite and connect people, and we don’t want to deviate from that idea, even though we understand that short videos don’t always do that job.”
