Smart home control in the Google ecosystem through the Gemini artificial intelligence assistant has become available to all users. The assistant allows you to set up smart lighting, home climate control, smart speakers and other compatible devices using your Google account.
Google announced a large -scale update of the Smart House platform in November. Now, to manage its functions, you can give commands in a natural language: having heard the phrase “the sun in the living room shines too bright,” the system will close the blinds. AI Gemini is able to perform several requests at once – you can say, for example: “Turn on the light at the chair, but muffle the lamp in the kitchen.” The assistant can also ask questions about the status of devices, for example, whether light on the porch is included.
Management of the “non -critical” devices of a smart house, such as lamps, is taken on the telephone lock screen. There was an opportunity to adjust the volume, suspend and resume reproduction on smart speakers, displays and smart TVs directly in the Gemini application; Here, an interface for controlling the climate system appeared, repeating the design of the corresponding section of Google Home. When contacting surveillance cameras and locks, the ANI assistant now automatically opens the Google Home app. The deployment of new functions begins today, but will occur gradually – for all users of the ecosystem they will appear “in the coming weeks”.
