Fantasy action RPG Black Myth: Wukong from Game Science studio has not been released on Nintendo Switch, but the hybrid console will soon have its own game based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West.
The project is called Wukong Sun: Black Legend and is positioned by the developers from Global Game Studio as “one of the most important games for the Nintendo Switch,” as the trailer below shamelessly states.
Gamers (in particular, Chinese) have already accused the creators of Wukong Sun: Black Legend of blatant plagiarism of Black Myth: Wukong. In addition to the extremely similar name, the game has a suspiciously familiar key illustration.
The similarities to Black Myth: Wukong end there. Wukong Sun: Black Legend is a cartoonish action-platformer that has nothing in common with the gameplay of the Game Science blockbuster.
With such a design, copying the popular game, the authors of Wukong Sun: Black Legend intend to mislead hapless consumers and trick them into buying their product.
Wukong Sun: Black Legend will be released in the American Nintendo eShop on December 26 (pre-order is open for $8), and will reach Europe in 2025. The game size on Switch is only 338 MB.
It is worth noting that Wukong Sun: Black Legend is not the first and not the last eShop project that parasitizes on an already known release. The problem was recently brought to the attention of the creator of Unpacking, but Nintendo is not taking any action in response.
