As promised, on December 24, a crossover with Cyberpunk 2077 started in the battle royale Fortnite from Epic Games. Against the backdrop of the launch, CD Projekt Red explained the decision for collaboration that outraged some fans.

Let’s remember that as part of the crossover with Cyberpunk 2077, Johnny Silverhand (with and without glasses) and a female version of the protagonist V appeared in Fortnite, along with several cosmetic items.
The Night City Legends Bundle (worth 2,800 V-Bucks) also includes back bling (Bolt Drone, Johnny’s Bag), pickaxes (Mantis Blades, Silverhand’s Katana), guitar, Quadra Turbo-R vehicle, and Night City Lights weapon skin.

What the Fortnite/Cyberpunk 2077 crossover does not include is the appearance of a male version of V, which some fans were extremely unhappy about. The head of content strategy at CDPR, Patrick Mills, explained the decision on his microblog.
According to Mills, the decision not to include a male V was his own and was made for two reasons: firstly, he likes the female version a little better, and secondly, there is already one male character (in the person of Johnny) in the collaboration.

«Both the male and female versions of V are great, but we weren’t going to add both in this collaboration [Fortnite and Cyberpunk 2077], so we had to make a choice,” Mills explained.
Meanwhile, those dissatisfied with the absence of a male version of V in the crossover with Fortnite have already accused CD Projekt Red of trying to erase the character from the Cyberpunk 2077 marketing campaign and even briefly brought V (male) to the trends of social network X.
