Swedish studio Windup Games, with the support of publisher Knights Peak, presented a new trailer for Hela, an open-world adventure game inspired by Scandinavian folklore, as part of The Mix Fall Showcase.
According to the plot of Hela, the good sorceress fell ill, and her familiar – a fearless mouse – goes on a journey to collect ingredients and brew magic potions to restore her mistress to health.
Players will fly through the air thanks to their magical frog backpack, solve puzzles among the picturesque Scandinavian landscapes, overcome the challenges of nature and bring goodness to the world.
According to the developers, it is better to overcome difficulties together, so Hela will have co-op (local/online). The one and a half minute trailer from The Mix Fall Showcase showed a four-player co-op game.
They promise a single-player mode, realistic physics, dynamic environment, locations “created with love for Scandinavian nature,” harmoniously integrated into the puzzle plot. For now, only English is announced for the game.
Hela is the debut project of Windup Games, but the team includes industry veterans. In particular, the game is being created under the leadership of the head of development of Unravel and Untravel Two, Martin Sahlin.
The release dates for Hela have not been specified at this stage, but it is known that the adventure is being prepared for premiere on PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. The release on Sony and Microsoft consoles was confirmed by a new trailer.
