Google has released a stable version of its proprietary Chrome browser 131.0.6778.86. Among other things, it fixes a bug due to which on some sites the text highlighting partially or completely did not work when selected.
Google spokesman Scott Westover confirmed that the mentioned bug has been fixed in the latest version of the Chrome browser. According to available data, after updating the browser, the problem really does not occur, and this applies not only to Chrome for Windows, but also to macOS. It is unclear whether this issue applies to other Chromium-based browsers such as Arc.
A Google representative said that the browser update is being distributed automatically and will soon be available to all users. Once you receive the update, all you have to do is restart your browser for the fix to take effect. You can also use the check for updates option to download the patch.
Let us remind you that the problem with highlighting text when selected appeared last week. The cause was probably one of the previous browser updates. Users could still select text, but it was not visually displayed at all or was only partially displayed, i.e. It was difficult for users to understand whether text was highlighted or not.
